Diana Taurasi, at 42, has surpassed Michael Jordan for most 20-point games by a 40-year-old in WNBA and NBA history, with 21.
In Thursday's game against the Las Vegas Aces, Phoenix Mercury's Diana Taurasi broke Michael Jordan's record for 20-point games for players over 40 in NBA or WNBA history. She now has 21 such games, a mark that may remain unchallenged.
Despite Taurasi's early lead for the Mercury, the Aces ultimately won 103-99. Taurasi finished with 22 points and four assists, continuing her strong season at age 42.
LeBron James is the next closest player to Taurasi with multiple 20-point games over 40. He will be 40 in December and could potentially challenge her record.
Taurasi remains the WNBA's all-time leading scorer and is averaging 17 points per game this season. She will compete for her sixth Olympic gold medal later this summer.
